Process Selection

Once relevant processes have been identified in the process identification phase of the BPM lifecycle, it’s time to dig into the details in process discovery.

However, not all processes warrant the same level of attention. For example, Process B (below) might be prioritized for its most favorable combination of importance, health, and feasibility.

  • Strategic importance refers to a process’s potential to impact the organization’s goals.
  • The health of a process is an assessment of the extent to which it can be improved across one or more performance measures (e.g., cycle time, cost, quality, or flexibility).
  • Other factors being equal, we should focus our efforts on the most feasible changes.
